We are sure at some point of time in case processing you all must have experienced difficulty in understanding or converting patient’s words in rubric form. This is because of the language of the rubric is quite different from the language used by patients. Converting symptoms into the rubric is an important step for choosing the right remedy as the wrong rubric will lead you to an altogether different remedy.
The repertory, ‘Perfect Repertory of Mind’ by Dr. Yogesh Sehgal is for all who has the difficulty in converting patient’s language in repertorial language. Dr. Sehgal tried understanding rubrics from the patient’s words. The book is based on Mind chapter of Kent’s repertory as a base and has further additions by Hahnemann, Gallavardin, Jahr, Knerr, Allen, Bonninghausen, Schmidt, Kunzli, Clarke, Boericke, Phatak and M.L. Sehgal.
Dr. Yogesh Sehgal has added the descriptive meaning of certain rubrics with the example of a patient’s language.
Examples:
1) Rubric: ANGER, mistake over his
The same rubric in Complete repertory and Synthesis repertory is given as ANGER, the mistake about his
Word OVER and ABOUT may be similar for many of us but in Sehgal method, each word has its own value and is properly explained by the author in this repertory.
2) “I ate ice-cream in spite of knowing that I will fall ill after having it. I can’t forgive myself.” There is a sense of guilt in the patient’s words.
Contrary, if the patient said “I ate ice-cream, thinking that it would not cause tonsillitis and sore throat but it was my mistake. I should have avoided it.” In this, there is no guilt feeling for the mistake.
Perfect Repertory of Mind shows understanding and applicability of Mind rubrics clinically and also the difference between medicines through Feeling and different cases.
